I used the BPP text book for F6 and I’ve honestly never read anything so protracted, trickily worded or seemingly contradictory in all my life. Every time I read it I ended up more confused than when I started. It actually got to the point where I found it easier to just read the original tax legislation.

Just as an example for anyone with their F6 text book to hand, try reading sections 2.2.1 and 2.2.3 on page 105, then section 4.3 on page 114 (in conjunction with section 4.1 on p.113) then tell me if electrical / water systems are:

    (i) eligible for capital allowances
(ii) not eligible for capital allowances
(iii) only eligible if used mainly to meet the requirements of the trade.

For the record I know the answer now. I’m just trying to highlight the issue I experienced. I don’t know if their P&R kits are any better. Maybe they are. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to use them because I was too busy trying to make sense of the text book.

I use a combination of open tuition lecture notes, BPP practice and revision kit and then the video lectures for open tuition.

Also sometimes use you tube for exam tips and guidance on problem areas

I honestly find Opentution notes is just very well explained and got exactly what you need and to the point.
and just used them with the lectures provided in Opentution and passed without attempting q2 in december 2013 :D.

I now started F6 & I have the BPP study text, but I find it quite confusing. Many other persons on the various Facebook ACCA groups have said that Kaplan is better than BPP for F6. I like open tuition’s notes for F6 though. Far easier to understand than BPP’s. Thinking about getting the F6 Kaplan (Dec 2014) though.

my tutor says f6 is a memory test… learn the rules n u gonna make it fine

Use a little notebook and write the rules and carry it with you wherever u go and read it whenever u get time… in the bus for example

    Good luck peeps

I’ve only used BPP so far in my studies, is the F6 study text really as complicated as people have been saying?
