Hi,
I know that in P5 I have to be able to :
identify
critically discuss
assess
advise
evaluate
in exam questions, but I get confused how exactly to handle with verbs.
Can you please help me and explain what each verbs should mean in exam question? For example if it is said evaluate i should do exactly what, if it is assess, then what – some kind of techniques that I can use to do exactly what is expected when this verb is used in exam question.
Thank you very much!
Dear Tutor,
I also have a problem with the following verbs:
Assess
Discuss
Evaluate
A question would say “discuss the merits” but the solution gives the demerits as well. Please explain the difference.
Regards
In practice they don’t make much difference. Assess and avaluate imply some type of judgement eg how good is a set of measures, so pros and cons. However, your discussion would probably do that too.
