Generally, the process of analyzing variances,
-is it done in isolation, that is, each blaming managers for their bad performance individually
    OR
-taking all the variances into account, trying to amalgamate them and finally start blaming the manager. For example having an adverse sales variance due to the fact that the production manager has used a lower quality of raw material.

    Thanks.

The second – they should look for any inter-relationship between the variances (as I explain in my lectures).
