Actually the annual return doesn't really matter for the calculation....????? It is not really required

The annual return is actually irrelevant to the calculation until you are deducting the figure from the annual return to show what you think is a 99% chance of going below. In other words the only really relevant figures to the calculations are the SD and the distribution figure?
