Hello Tutor,
In Kaplan book, Chapter 9 – Divisional Performance Appraisal and Transfer Pricing, it’s written;
The techniques available for increasing and monitoring value will be/have been covered in other chapters and include amongst others;
The balanced Scorecard
Business Process Re-engineering
TQM
JIT
VBM
ABC and ABM
Benchmarking
My question is, if balanced scorecard is in the list why is Performance Pyramid and Building block model not included here? (Is building block model not included because it is a performance measurement system only for service industry)?
Thank you.
Well, your quote mentions ‘monitoring’ and the building block model does monitor dimensions of performance and then suggests that measures standards and rewards should be appropriate.
I would have included this. It can also be applied to a ,manufacturing industry though was initially aimed at service industries.
Similarly the performance pyramid as this sets out the various objectives and measures.
Thank you very much.
God bless.
