In the 08/06 paper Q2, the question is as follow:
The Business Architecture Committee (BAC) has been asked to make recommendations on the sourcing of
activities (in-house or outsourced). The BAC has also been asked to identify technological implications or
opportunities for the activities that they recommend should remain in-house.
Suggest and justify recommendations to the BAC for each of the following major process areas:
(i) Attendance of repair staff at breakdowns;
(ii) Membership renewal;
(iii) Vehicle insurance services;
(iv) Membership queries; and
(v) Vehicle history checks.
the answer use the process-strategy matrix to analyse the complexity and the importance in order to decide whether remain inhouse or outsource.
i was wondering whether i can use value chain model to analyse. Because value chain is a model that can help us know which activites add value and which activities is of little value so that we can outsourse?
You certainly could use the VC and that would be a fine approach. The question did not specify the Harmon grid.
