    Hi guys,

    I found an article which may be useful for our revision of P5. It is entitled “Performance management in value chain”. ACCA mentioned value chain in one of the two updates for P5 syllabus in 2012. The other (risk analysis techniques such as maximin, maximax, …) was examined in Dec 2011, thus I think value chain may appear in this Dec 2012 sitting :D. However, I think BPP P5 study text does not provide us with sufficient information to deal with exam question in this area.

    The article can be found in this link (I do not know how to attach file into a post)

    https://www.atkearney.de/content/misc/wrapper.php/name/file_a_t_kearney_performance_mgmt_in_vc_119788891031e1.pdf

    Wish everybody good luck in their exam 🙂

    thanks for noting the value chain and maximax topics. the article is pretty long i might give a quick read. vlue chain analysis is not too difficult of topic coming from P3. scenario will most probably ask about the current situation linking it with csfs to improve so pretty much general. thanks best of luck

    A general technique on value chain may be less possible to come out on a question on its own, but what could be tested by Alex Watt are:

    1. Application on the linkage of value-chain systems between suppliers, intermediaries and customers, and how it matches the firm’s CSFs;

    2. A mathematical concept in beyond budgeting called ‘customer profitability’ may be tested (check out a Pharmaceutical PYQ written by Shane Johnson, I remember it’s quite an old question linking Q1 and Q2 together)

    3. and other indirectly tested areas like ratio analysis, performance prism, performance pyramid, TQM and quality costs (ie. quality of goods during logistics).
