Hi,
I am an ACCA affiliate struggling to find a job here in UAE. I did OBU and got the degree in March 2023. Having reviewed multiple job descriptions(JD) and interacted with like-minded professionals on LinkedIn, I saw great emphasis on projects to substitute the experience needed in the JD. I am skilled enough to undertake entry-level accounting and finance roles, but I am unsure how to get this across to potential employers. I tried multiple internship programs, too.
I am considering taking on random case study questions from ACCA past exams, attempting them, putting them together as projects, and then sharing them on my LinkedIn and resume. Is it allowed to use past exam questions this way?If the answer is no, Is there an alternative to getting case studies that I can do to showcase my skills to potential employers?
What advice do you have for me in order to stand out? Is there any coaching/mentoring program you offer specifically for fresh grads?I look forward to your reply.
Thank you.December 18, 2023 at 11:16 am #696998Hello again … on any “past exams and question practice” page in student resources you should see this copyright notice:
“Copyright
All study resources are the copyright of ACCA and can only be used for classroom and student use in preparation for their ACCA exams. They cannot be published in any form (paper or soft copy), or sold for profit in any way, without first gaining the express permission of ACCA. Nor can they be used as examinations, in whole or in part, by other institutions or awarding bodies.”I suggest “sharing on LinkedIn” is a form of publication – also the use you propose is not exam preparation. That said, you could ask ACCA. But I’m not sure what you’re trying to achieve by using them anyway – since they all have published answers. And why would a prospective employer take the time to read such projects?
I’m sorry not to have advice – this isn’t what we do on this site. You could explore ACCA’s resources https://jobs.accaglobal.com and perhaps post here instead https://opentuition.com/forum/qualified-members-forum – though I don’t know how much engagement we have with members.
