    Can i ask a question regarding ‘sources of information’
    Some students who failed the RAP told that ‘Wikipedia’ is unauthentic and cannot be used as a source.
    Is that true?
    Can you guide me how i will know if a source is unauthentic.
    I really do not want to fail my RAP with the marker stating ‘the source you used was unauthentic’.
    Will be very thankful for your support.

    @SalahUddin

    Yes, it is true Any source naming Wiki should not be used at all to remove risk of unauthorized information.

    Key for determination of any authentic source is RESPONSIBLE PARTY. If you can approach and know the identity of Responsible party, it is authentic then. Party can be anyone but source should be formal, such as interviews, questionnaires, Newspapers etc.

    Example: Think, If you saw written comment on FaceBook that if you invest in Company X today, tomorrow you will get $1,000. Now, what if you have invested and lost the money. Can you blame that person? Is he/she approachable? Does he/she is authorized person for that information?

    No, in this case your judgement got wrong because you just saw a comment made by an anonymous person and you acted upon that.

    If same thing you have read on Financial Times and you lost your money. You can approach to them and even sue them for wrongful or misleading information but then, court will decide. However, you can not sue that Facebook person for that comment.

    So, remember information should be:
    1 The one you got from formal source
    2 The one for which party providing information is authorized for it
    3 Responsible party is approachable

    Lastly, remember you can never use research of others. Such as websites publishing different thesis, reports, assignments etc can never be referred, if you do that will be a straight case of plagiarism.

    Thank You.
