That really is an interesting question. I have said many times ( and am on record as saying ) that I cannot believe that Lisa awards a mark ( nor even half a mark ) for quoting the name or number of an ISA. This surely isn’t a test of your ability to memorise names, titles, numbers of ISAs.

It SHOULD be a test of your ability to identify a problem area from a scenario, analyse it, and arrive at a solution as to how to tackle the problem in an efficient and professional way.

I would almost be prepared to bet money ( except I’m not a gambling man ) that, were you to ask an audit senior / manager / even partner what is the title and ISA number of the ISA which deals with ( take your pick ), they would not have a clue. But ask them the professional way to solve an accounting or auditing dilemma, they would be all over it like a rash.

However….look at the exam marking schemes and you’ll see that there appears to be a mark / half a mark for identifying the ISA number …. and I still cannot believe it!

So, in answer to your question, if you name the name but fail to get the number … it appears you may lose up to half a mark. And I STILL cannot believe it!
