    Tutor,

How should bargained goodwill be treated when consolidating?

Firstly, when the fair value of consideration given seems to be lower than fair value of assets acquired then a reassessment and recalculation of both the fair value of consideration given and fair value of net assets acquired is required to be undertaken. If after this process is undertaken there remains negative goodwill this value should be recognised immediately in the profit and loss.I am not a tutor. If you wish the tutor to answer a question you have then you should ask in the ask the tutor forum. The general subject forums are designed for students to help each other.Regardless of this fact I hope the above information I have supplied was useful to you.If you have any other questions related to above or anything else please do not hesitate to ask.

You are welcome. Not sure why ask the tutor didn’t work.Think the process of posting should be the same as with this forum. On rare occasions I have had replies to questions I have answered disappear into ether on this site but this hasn’t happened so of for some time.
