Are there any examples of companies practising the WT strategy i.e minimise weaknesses to minimise threats?

Yes. For example, weakness could be a poor cash flow and the threat could be the bank becoming nervous and asking for its money back. The weakness could be reduced by obtaining an injection of share capital.
