Sir while finding total material variance , we know that it is calculated as follows
Actual total cost X
Standard total cost for actual units X
——-
X
My question is that actual total cost is found by actual quantity (kgs) multiplied by actual price per kg OR is it found by actual units multiplied by actual price per unit?February 9, 2018 at 9:11 am #436087*While finding Total material cost variance

The standard cost for actual units, is the actual units multiplied by the standard material cost per unit.
I really do suggest that you watch my free lectures on variances. The lectures are a complete free course for Paper F5 and cover everything needed to be able to pass the exam well.
February 9, 2018 at 7:11 pm #436145Sir I am asking about Actual total cost , not the standard cost for actual units. While finding Total material cost variance, actual total cost is found by actual quantity (kgs) multiplied by actual price per kg OR is it found by actual units multiplied by actual price per unit?
February 10, 2018 at 8:20 am #436183The actual cost is the amount actually spent!! So the actual kgs multiplied by the actual cost per Kg.
