I submitted my RAP on Topic 8 in Period 27 but unfortunately I couldn’t achieve pass grade.
The only element I failed with regard to my research report was the Understanding of accountancy/business models.
In light of markers comments I have revised this section and I am ready to re-submit my project. Please note that according to my understanding i do not need to include latest financial statements as I have already passed the element of evaluation, analysis and conclusions.
Now before submitting my project I just want to confirm that I am not wrong. Please do let me know if I am…!
I’m afraid the bad news is that Topic 8 has to be updated to include the latest financial statements regardless of what you failed on. Obviously the marker will mainly be looking at Assessment criteria 1 & 2 so that means your SWOT & PESTLE will be subjected to great scrutiny but you need to include 2013/21014 data in your graphs and evaluation as technically if you don’t they could fail you.

Because my mentor thinks otherwise. He says that according to his experience with his past students I am not required to use latest financial statements.
He says that one of his students was failed due lack of proper integration between company and competitor analysis. And he only improved integration of his analysis without using latest financial statements. And even that student passed in period 27.
He has firm understanding that you only need to use latest financial statements if you fail in evaluation are analysis.
@argillani515 Absolutely sure my friend – I’ve been in the RAP business for 10 years and what I don’t know about it I could write on the back of a stamp! I don’t give bad news willingly – only when it’s necessary… You could risk it but you would probably fail again on Understanding /Application as you are not applying the latest information you are not demonstrating evidence of understanding it. The choice is yours but a strict marker would impose the rules and only a marker who was cutting corners would let it through. If this is your final resubmission then I would advise against taking the risk but as I say I am just citing the Rules and the decision must be yours.
You are right, I just confirmed from OBU. No doubt, a very bad news for me. Thanks to my mentor for misguiding me… and thanks to me for not clarifying this before… now I must be punished… another six months wasted.
Anyways, I am very much thankful to you for the clarification and advice. As far as advice is concerned, I will go with it; not taking the risk.

I’m sorry it is bad news but I was fearful you could blow a final submission and miss out on your degree completely. Please don’t be too angry with your mentor – he wouldn’t have deliberately misled you and I don’t doubt a previous student managed to slip through – but it is a risky policy to flout the ‘Rules’. Good luck for Period 29 if you are deferring 🙂
