Tips for studying more than 1 paper

Hi guys. Could somebody please give me advice on how to study for more than one paper?

I always tend to concentrate on one paper as I am worried that if I concentrate on more than 1 I won’t be able to cover all materials and I will miss something out. But I know that IT IS possible to study for 2, 3 and even 4 papers at the same time and still pass all exams. How do you do it? Do you have lots of spare time to study? How do you plan your studies? Do you read ALL materials you have, incl. Study Text (that’s what I tend to do) or you skip certain parts? How do you know what to skip and what to read?

Laurra..sticking with one subject will decrease your learning power.Do study atleast 2 papers..No one is able to cover each and every word in study text.If you want to seek some advice about how to cover 2 subjects at a time, don’t hesitate to e-mail me as I am not feeling comfortable here to tell the detail..

I am doing three papers in June, F5, F6 and F7. Luckily I studied for F5 for the Dec 2010 exam but failed but I know all the core stuff and am going over everything again a little bit at a time. I don’t know what other people do, but I try and study most days and do one subject per day. So today I have done lots of work on F5, tomorrow I will do work on F6 and so on. But like I say, that is how I do, other people might have better techniques. I have to fit my studying in wherever I can as I have a few hobbies and work full time.

First you need to know that you will have to make sacrifices. Maybe even very big ones if you really want to pass. Try to concentrate on just 1 subject per day and devote that day exclusively to that subject. Make an aim as to what you want to cover so that you have a plan to follow – those who fail to plan plan to fail and you must tell yourself that Failure is NOT an option. It may be better to go through videos like OT or LSBF where the tutor teaches you then when you go to the text you wouldn’t have to read every single word…but concentrate on the questions and do those.
These are just some tips which I have found that work for ME…..everyone is different though so what works for me may not work for you.
best wishes in your studies to everyone 🙂

I think a good tip is to “do” exam questions in revision kit AT LEAST twice in a closed book environment. (so 3 times would be best – first, you attempt question and go to answer section – it’s just the way of studying and other 2 times to do those question in closed book environment)

There is no point in reading too much study text – firstly because it’s totally detached from practice (doing questions)

Secondly, because there is too much detail – you wouldn’t be able to present your knowledge in 3 hours exam anyway.

marcin, I think that’s fair advice as practise makes it perfect. Last year I did such a silly mistake. I read the whole F5 book but did not do attempt even 1 question. But even so to my biggest surprise I still scored 43.
Now I am taking different approach. I watch videos and attempt questions, not as many as I would like though because I still feel the weird need inside me to have all theory covered. It’ll take some time to get used to new learning style.

But like BPP tutor said: don’t read the book unless you need clarification regarding particular topic.
