You may be able to bring down word count by giving list of Abbreviations after table of content page and use them in report. For example.

    MCCL: My Cement Company Limited
    FY: Fiscal Year
    YoY: Year on Year
    GoK: Government of Kenya
    NP Margin: Net Profit Margin
    GP Margin: Gross Profit Margin
    Appx :Appendix
GMAOP: Garments Manufactures Association of Poland
    JPY: Japanese Yen
    USD: United States Dollar

    Another good tip from @bassaniobroke

Only thing I would say is that ensure that you do not go over the top with abbreviations though, avoid any situations where the abbreviations could be ambiguous (even if you have produced the abbreviation list) and don’t use abbreviations in headings unless the abbreviation is conventional (like UN for United Nations)

I saw one RAP where the marker had failed it on communication specifically because it contained so many abbreviations – mostly non-conventional ones. Reading between the lines of the feedback it obviously drove the marker mad!!!! (and yes, there was excessive and unnecessary use of abbreviations so I could see why the marker took exception).

An example of ambiguity – in an accounting context IA can mean Internal Audit or Intangible Assets

Otherwise abbreviations are useful as they do allow you bring the word count down a little
