    Hi,

Can you offer any advice on how to tackle question 1 (mostly part a) in the time. Allocating 1.8 minutes per mark it should take 1hr 3 mins. No matter how many I practice I can’t seem to complete them in less that 1 hr 20 mins (which is not good). I seem to be getting pass marks and getting a reasonable amount right but some of the questions are horribly complex.

Would it be an idea to for example miss out a complicated element for example a complicated financial instrument part or perhaps spend less time transferring workings to the proforma as most of the marks could be in the workings anyway.

Any advice would be welcome 🙂

Miss off the bits that you anticipate (from an initial read through) will take “too long”

Don’t worry about writing out a proforma and therefore don’t transfer figures from your workings to this profit that you’re not nowgoing to be writing out

Sure, do the workings, clearly, neatly, legibly, carefully, thoroughly and completely if you still have the time

And then, IF YOU’RE STILL WITHIN YOUR 63 MINUTES, start transferring figures. Don’t head the answer

    “JONAS GROUP
Consolidated Statement of Profit or Loss
for the year ended 31 March, 2015”

    “Csopl” is enough

Don’t write out “Intangible Non-Current Assets” where “INCA” is sufficient

    Are you getting the message?

You’re correct, the marks ARE in the workings but the question asks you for a Consolidated Statement of Profit or Loss so that’s what you should aim for but the second that you pass that 63 minutes, YOU STOP and move on to another part of another question

    Hope all that helps

All great advice. Thanks very much. Abbreviations should help as well.
