Hi Sir,
In throughput questions should the products be ranked on the basis of return per factory hour or throughput accounting ratios as I have come across questions using both methods.
Also, for learning curves do we need to calculate the logs or will the value of ‘b’ always be provided?
Thank you

It does not matter which you use unless obviously the question specifically asks you to calculate the TPAR.In theory you could be asked to calculate ‘b’, however so far it has always been given.
(But it is no problem anyway – you have to have a scientific calculator in order to be able to calculate something to the power of b. Therefore you will have a log button on your calculator anyway 🙂 )

I think I remember a question where the rankings were different based on the TPAR and return per factory hour. I’ll double check on that. Also, will have to learn up log on the calculator.

Don’t worry too much about logs – it is very unlikely that you would be required to calculate ‘b’ (but if you watch the free lecture then I do go through calculating it, just to be safe 🙂 )
