    Dear tutor,
Which type of benchmarking should I follow from these-
    Type 1:
    *Internal
    *Industry
    *Activity
    *Generic
    Type 2:
    *Historical
    *Industry
    *Best-in-class
will you please make me clarify what is Generic benchmarking?

I haven’t come across the terms Type 1 or Type 2 or generic. I suggest you Google it or look at where you found the terms.

The source where I got it says nothing about it. Thanks for reminding me about Google! Google says, Generic benchmarking is,
    Method of comparing the
    performance and processes of
    organizations in unrelated
    industries.

I recognise the concept, but it is of limited value. If organisations are unrelated it is difficult to interpret results or make comparisons.
