can anyone give me a basic definition of each and the differences for my peace of mind, i have read so many definitions, it would be helpful to have a basic explanation without all the jargon!
thanks
Jemma
A test of control means that you have to test that a control is operating. for example, that a transaction has been authorized or that a reconciliation has been carried out.
Substantive tests can be tests of detail (like tracing entries from cash book to receivables ledger) or substantive procedures.
