    Hello,

I’ve been going through the Kaplan exam kit for the last few days and got through a part of it, but noticed something odd compared to what was mentioned in the initial lecture and throughout.

My understanding is that the exam is asking to apply the models and knowledge to real life situations and provide advice or other as per question. The first two chapters of the kit focus on corporate governance and leadership, but I’ve noticed that certain questions reward points on what is pretty much explaining concepts. For example a question I’m looking at now rewards 2 points on what is pretty much explaining what cross directorship is (if anyone has the kit, it’s part 1 of question 23).

Half the time these points are presented in the answer as optional, other half they are mandatory to get full marks on the question. Are these just easy points to get and we should provide a brief explanation of concepts or is the kit going a bit overboard?

    Thank you

Went through a fair few questions in the forum and it was answered as no need to explain the theory. Not sure why the kit focuses on explaining the theory in almost every question for at least a third of the available points. Does give a bit more confidence that the preparation is going well as I am struggling to remember all the theory models exactly due to the sheer volume of them despite being able to apply what the models stand for in most questions.

Hopefully will manage to memorise more models to further help with the questions before the exam.

Kits often go overboard so that their answers provide you with information for revision. You won’t be able to write as much so concentrate on application rather than explaining terms.

Thank you for your response. It is very reassuring to know that the definitions won’t be required as per the over bloated answers in the kit.
