I’m considering taking P5 in June. I read in the note and acca website that p3 is essential. Does this mean I’ll struggle on p5 if I don’t pass p3 first? And besides the content of p3 and p1 is changing by June?
Advise sir?
There is a new exam from September 2018 called Strategic Business Leader (SBL). It is a kind of merger of P1 and P3 and will be a 4 hour case study. To be exempt from that you have to have passed both P1 and P3, and the last time these are set is June 2018.
It is not absolutely essential to have studied P5 before P3, but there is considerable syllabus overlap and given that P3 had to be done, it made sense to do it before P5. If you have attempted but not yet passed P1 and P3 then there is a bit of a gamble that when the exam structure changes in September you will have to sit SBL – effectively repeating some study and assessment.
