Hi Everyone
First time poster and was wondering if you guys had any advice.
I am currently studying CIMA with study support from work but I after various discussions I am considering switching to ACCA.
I am currently at the case study for the operational level and was wondering if anyone had any advice or has been in the same situation as myself and has successfully switched over?
Many thanks in advance for any advice anyone can provide
June 27, 2018 at 4:21 pm #460385I was in your exact position and have now switched to ACCA from CIMA.
My problem was the country i work , ACCA was more recognized and no one heard of CIMA, which i don’t think is your problem as you have employer support?
I stopped at operational case study and did ACCA September 2017 , Got 3 exemptions , did my final F paper this month, and preparing to attempt SBR & SBL in September.
In My opinion if you want to switch its not too late, as its just not worth it to study CIMA.
you have less recognition and MORE exams. As CIMA have 3 case studies , you will be doing in total 14 + 3 = 17 EXAMS. With the new changed ACCA syllabus there is only 13 Exams total.June 30, 2018 at 8:20 pm #460619AnonymousInactive- Topics: 4

Hi
Apologies for my delay in responding, its nice to find someone that was in the same position as me and has progressed so much further after switching.
May I ask what your reasons were for switching, why did you decide to change the OCS stage?
Many thanks
June 30, 2018 at 9:46 pm #460621Well done guys, one word of caution though, ACCA exams are not the easiest hence there’s a reason why people do CIMA cause they seem to have easier to pass exams.
June 30, 2018 at 11:16 pm #460624The most significant factor, ACCA is recognized much more in my place, that’s why the switch.
Also, I feel the CIMA case study is very challenging, as you have to remember the previous 3 subjects you have learned to be able to do the case study. Which means studying them again.
My plan is to finish ACCA, and then do CMA(https://www.imanet.org) , which is only 2 exams instead of 14, but requires a bacholers degree or a professional qualifications such as acca for entry , then i would also have a management accounting qualification under my belt with ACCA.
So ACCA, CMA Combination, I think they would complement each other.
July 8, 2018 at 7:21 pm #461327Well done.
CIMA exams are too easy today
February 10, 2019 at 12:48 pm #504628The E papers are easier admittedly, the Ps and Fs are actually harder imo. Don’t be so quick to dismiss CIMA like a walk in the park – it is still very well respected and I’ve worked with plenty of FDs that carry the title and respect others with it too.
February 26, 2019 at 8:21 am #506564It would be interesting to know if the original poster made the switch?
February 28, 2019 at 10:34 pm #506912Good move MP93 just read your post under “Study Plan – F4 & F6”.
