this analysis is used for all sort of strategies like internal or external and could it be used to manage strategic changes as well? please sir if u could explain in detail
The analysis is used to assess any strategy.
I don’t think it is applicable to managing strategic change. Strategic change would come as the result of deciding on a strategy that is different from the current one (hence the ‘change’). In deciding if the new strategy is likely to be successful (and they might have had a choice of different strategies and different changes) then the SFA criteria can be used to help make the choice.
Once the new strategy has been decided on, they will enter the strategic implementation phase which is where all the detailed work takes place eg time tables, budgets etc. Managing strategic change is more likely to be done through project management techniques. POPIT can also be of use to make sure the main elements of any strategic change have been covered (people, organisation, processes and IT).
ok sir thank u , what other assessment strategies are in syllabus apart from SAF?
I think that is the only formal one, and it is used a lot.
Obviously you may have to go through some of PESTEL, 5 forces, resources, SWOT etc (and have to to the initial analysis. SFA then summarises your findings quite well to try to identify the best strategy.
ok sir one last question , the question of finance and strategy comes during the planning stage or is it part of SFA strategy? sorry sir for bugging u repeatedly
