hi, I live in Hong Kong. As no english tutor is available here i wanted to start by my own. can anyone recommend me books for F1, F2 and F3. Kaplan books would be good or BPP. i want to take 3 papers in december. Please help me..

i always suggest people to use both. But unfortunately it might be too costy ..
So for knowledge module i would rather suggest you to use kaplan. It has more practical examples, while BPP’s language is a bit too technical.
And just a suggestion. In case if u can get BPP i-pass , it’s just perfect to use while preparing for F1-F3.
Please note that knowledge module syllabus and exams structure changes alot starting from Dec 2011. So , you can use some of 2010 materials but you need at least one set of updated books as well.

Yes, i’m an ACCA student. Preparing to sit F7 and F8 in dec 2011.
So far i managed to pass exams using self studies only.Yeah other thing i wanted to know that how can i register for appearing in the exam………i am already registered as student with acca but dont know how to appear in the exam and how to select CBE or handwritten format…….. Would be needing you guidance.
it’s pretty simple.
If u are a registered student then you should have received an e-mail from ACCA with your login and password.
Using these details u can login to “myacca” at ACCA global website (see panel on the top):
https://portal.accaglobal.com/MyACCA is your personal small portal where you can register for your exams, records your working experience, complete PER, Foundations in Professionalism..etc
Once u enter MyACCA , choose “exam entry and results”.
I did not sit CBE’s myself. I passed knowledge module as PBE , so i’m not sure whether you have access to CBE’s registration now.
If you do, then simply follow it and there you will be able to choose which exams you sit, enter your card details and click on relevant buttom to make the payment.
then in some while docket to attend exam centre that you chose beforehand will be availalbe to print out.
if u sit fixed exams at dec or june, usually docket is availalbe in nov / may.if you are going to sit PBE then registration for exams will be open once exam results are announced. That is on 22 august till 15th oct.
Whether to sit CBE’s or PBE’s is a personal choice of everyone.
As for me i felt easier to pass exams on paper , when i can see them all at once and start from any question i want.
However, CBE’s have a nice advantage. That is : they can be passed at any time of the year, depending on your personal choice.
And many people say that it’s easier to score very high in CBE’s , that is above 90% if u are well prepared. While in PBE it’s hard to score more then 90%.
but i guess that is personal opinion of everyone.don’t forget to opt for BSc Hons from Oxford Brookes in case if u are itnerested in getting this bachelor degree in applied accounting along with your ACCA studies.
Here i am confused again…….. if i go for BPP books, is it ok to buy only study text and i-pass. or if if i buy Kaplan study text and bpp i-pass. will it work? or i would need to buy all the books of BPP ( text study, practice and revision kit, passcard and i-pass) or Kaplan ( complete text, exam kit and pocket notes)?
I understand your confusion. Well, it’s hard to say whether I-Pass replaces revision kit. I think it does!
But only if you are going to sit CBEs and before November. As i’m not sure that they will quickly modify revision kit for 2011 changes. But maybe they already did!However, i can tell you with all the confidence, that you absolutely can live without passcards or pocket notes. I have purchased those from kaplan and hardly ever used.
After posting this message, another idea came to my mind.
That you might lack some description that revision kit has. As tips and solutions in a pass might be a bit more brief then in revision kit.
Actually if u are about to chooe between i-pass and revision kit. I think it’s better to buy reivision kit.
