The usual address in the Information Pack – probably acca@brookes.ac.uk but check it first.

You won’t be able to (the files are too big!) And you don’t need to – provide the link in the reference list instead

I have submitted. I thought I would have felt relieved but now I am super anxious. My first submission and I really don’t want to fail. I have found my self reading the Marker’s Feedback forum over and over and over about other students who failed πŸ™ reading the same comments twice and three times. I think I submitted a RAP that will pass…but it still weighs on my mind if i left out anything or if I didn’t used my comparator properly… urrghhhh! Where is March 22nd, 2011?????

I’m in a same board, many factors make me feel that I will fail LOL.

First of all, you did your best, and that’s what is expected from any student in any studies. In case you fail, you shouldn’t feel remorse because you did your best.

No one knows, if one will pass or fail. I’ve seen those students failing where they and their marker thought that they did A grade paper, and vice versa.

There are no rules really like ACCA papers, like steps and so on. This makes RAP marking very subjective. One student could be failed for a reason in which other student isn’t penalized LOL. Some markers are strict than others, so, your passing depends on your marker too. In the end there is nothing you can do, Luck plays major role in passing the RAP.

Even if you fail, hope not, it won’t be the end of the world. Marker will give you detail reason why you failed, and you can easily pass next time.

I also hate they take so freaking long to release the results -_-.

You should stop reading fail sheets of others, because you could fail for any reason which you wouldn’t even thought of. Each fail is different, but if you have refrained from making generalized mistakes such as, just explaining trends and no proper referencing, then you shouldn’t worry much. Even if you fail, your re-submission won’t be much difficult.

    Regards,

Thanks Ehsan. I really needed that! I will begin this week to study for my professional papers so that I can be distracted until results release.

Just keep in mind, DO NOT hope anything. DO NOT hope that you will pass or fail. Just forget it.

Just thing, if you pass then good, or else there is NEXT TIME.

Well although there may be some subjectivity that is more likely where it isn’t a clear pass. A good piece of work will pass whoever marks it.

The trick is to avoid the common pitfalls (bad referencing and poor layout) and whatever you do, don’t bore the marker! I have warned against all those dreadful percentages everywhere that kill rather than thrill. However my marker contacts tell me every session they die dozens of potential deaths by numbers with Topic 8. In desperation to save themselves from drowning in a sea of numbers they just cut to the feedback sheet and put a big F in box 3 [evaluation and analysis]. An alternative of course is to choose Topic 17 (or T20) as there are far fewer numbers!

Anyway chill time now ! If the worst comes to the worst you will still have another 2 attempts πŸ™‚ so C B, C!

I don’t have a single number in revenue and profitability analysis, in gearing maybe 3, non in interest cover, I do have couple in current ratio, and whatever numbers I had, they were not the repetition from graphs, they were something new, something else.

Most of the work is broken down into concise paragraphs.

Well that might be going to the other extreme!!! I mean superfluous numbers that repeat what the graph shows and don’t really advance understanding of what has gone on i.e. are just statements (what markers tend to call ‘descriptive’ in their feedback because they merely describe trends – increases/ decreases but don’t shed any light on what has caused them). Whereas Evaluation is about linking the SWOT and PESTLE factors and analysing the strategic decisions in the light of the results (something I tried to illustrate in my brief example in the article on Evaluation).

Good @Ehsan – New facts and the like are exactly what will spike the marker’s interest and demonstrate excellent evidence of research skills – so if you have included some linkage of the models to the financial results too, you should be well on the way to passing.

    All the best! πŸ˜€

My mentor warned me about repeating what the graphs clearly demonstrates. He said its a waste of words that can be used elsewhere. So I did just that and try to focus on what caused the fluctuations in the ratios. At first I thought 7,500 words is a ridiculous amount since I have never done a research project this big before. Half way through I realized that 7,500 words is really nothing.

Well done to the moderator of OBU Forum. I have learned alot from this forum throughout the entire process. I may not share in topics so often as others but truly it has been a help to me. Keep up the good work Trephena!

By the way this is me calming my nerves about submission πŸ˜€ lol lol

Chill time for everyone once they have submitted! πŸ˜€ – it is ‘in the lap of the gods’ now (i.e. the hands of the OBU markers – LOL ) There is no point in worrying – go out and enjoy yourself as March is a long way off….

Worry about it then if you don’t get through – but remember you get another chance and resubmission pass rates are higher than first time round.

(Someone asked why it takes so long for the results: apparently the moderation process of confirming fails and reviewing goes on until about March as 60% of work is effectively marked twice [and some even a 3rd time] and there are also some administrative procedures involved so that’s why!)

Do they start checking as soon as one submit’s their project, or they wait till submission closes?

    Just curious!

According to my marker friend they don’t start assessments until December. Everything has to be loaded to Turnitin and that’s a long job. Then work has to be allocated to a marker depending on what the subject is. There are also administrative checks that have to be completed before any marking starts.

@maham0604 – you will have to email them at acca@Brookes.ac.uk

Suggest you attach the files as after the deadline at midnight GMT tonight the window for submissions closes and late files are not accepted. (Too many students try to use excuses so unless you have emailed the files before then they will not accept there has been a problem and instead suspect that it is just an attempt to exceed the deadline )

    Hi Trephana,
I have realised I made a mistake after submission. I have placed another source name under one of my graph in the Presentation slide rather than using the same source that I referred to in my RAP. Am I gonna fail because of not using the same source? (P/s: both source shows the same information)

And I would also wanted to ask whether having too much passive voice in my RAP will cause me to fail too? Because I saw too many of them being underlined in Microsoft Word due to passive voice.
    Thanks and Regards.

    1. I doubt it as most students do not reference the graphs in their slides (it is a nice touch if they are referenced but not compulsory in the presentation). Proper labelling and titles are more important.

    2. Style is a personal thing and provided it reads well I wouldn’t worry about it. Markers tend to ignore it as it is actual content you will be assessed on. (Now what a co-incidence I just wrote that and Isn’t that last bit passive voice??)

Chill time required for you I think so – C B,C until March results day! πŸ˜€

Does it mean that I’ll not be penalized or judged mainly on one error unless I did several mistakes repetitively? Thanks for your prompt reply !! It did help! πŸ™‚

Though its now too late I would like to ask for your feedback on how it will affect my marking for my RAP

1- I ommitted to capture “recommendation section” in my content list but I included all other section heads including the conclusion.

2- I realized that I made mistake on the word count deceleration both in the RAP and SLS

there was a tying Error, I declared by mistake that my SLS is 19333 words, the extra 3 is typing error. the same was my RAP.

    Thank you
