may someone assist me please i submitted my RAp on the 12th of November however i have realised that i made a mistake on my powerpoint presentation is it possible to have it corrected
November 17, 2015 at 10:43 am #283280@mngwenya – It depends how bad the mistake is. If this is a resubmission and you uploaded your old file by mistake then the staff will no doubt accept your new file as the submission window hasn’t closed yet. If it is something minor then just leave it. It is highly unlikely a submission would be failed just because of a minor error in the Presentation – that’s just NOT how it works. The Assessment Criteria for the Presentation are about being able to communicate the main findings of your research effectively in 15 mins so provided the marker thinks your slides do this then it passes.
(A small error would only be picked on if other things in the Presentation were deficient or they had already failed you on something else and taken the decision that as you are going to have to resubmit anyway you might as well correct the error they found in the Presentation!)
As it is, the submission window closes tomorrow so the OBU staff will now be extremely busy. Reloading a replacement file I suspect has to be done manually and they wouldn’t have the time to do it for small errors and only be willing to reload in what is considered to be really significant cases
Either way chill – it really is not the end of the world! 🙂
November 17, 2015 at 12:43 pm #283310thanks for your response you have settled my nerves, I contacted oxford brookes and they asked me to send the corrected file
November 20, 2015 at 6:26 pm #283998Hi there,
I’ve submitted my OBU project yesterday and I got an email confirming it. After the payment, I did not receive any mail regarding payment confirmation but my mentor received a mail inquiring about my work.
The problem here is I’m not sure if my project is gonna be marked. I need some help on this .
thanks
October 20, 2016 at 8:36 am #347122Dear Trephena,
I have my projects on different computer, so can I upload those file in OBU portal and save and exit? and make payment afterwards when I am on another PC?
Regards
October 20, 2016 at 8:36 am #345126Hi,
I tried finding this topic in the forums but could not so posting here. If it has already been discussed please guide me to that post.
It states in the OBU info pack that file size should be 10 MB. This requirement is for individual files, right? not combined?
My RAP and Excel file is already over this limit individually and I still have some work left to do. I am worried about how to reduce the file size and would submission be an issue?
Has anyone encountered this problem before?
Thanks in advance!
October 20, 2016 at 10:20 am #345154If individual files are over the limit you will not be able to upload them. The limit applies to each file, not the total
October 20, 2016 at 1:56 pm #345188Oh thats an issue then. What do I do to reduce the file size? I cant remove ratio graphs 🙁
October 20, 2016 at 2:47 pm #345197Have you posted pictures? Because pictures can significantly increase file size.
Delete any unwanted pictures.
October 20, 2016 at 9:10 pm #345268Hello,
Yes I have, only a couple or so and those are linked with analysis with referencing. :/
Its a pity I’ll have to reduce my analysis just to get it in the size limit 🙁
October 20, 2016 at 9:16 pm #345270Its really odd file with 7500 words to bounce over 10MB, mine stayed within 5MB after posting 15 graphs and 4-5 photos.
October 20, 2016 at 9:32 pm #345271I don’t even have 15 graphs. 11 graphs and 5 photos.
Okay, so that means that it should not have gotten so big.Even I am not sure how it got so huge when even my project is not complete yet. 🙁
October 20, 2016 at 9:43 pm #345274Well, I hope you find the string that’s causing the weight.
October 20, 2016 at 11:16 pm #345284Ookay I discovered all the weight is from the graphs in Part 3. Not pictures or anything else.
I copy pasted all the graphs from Excel so I think they are bringing the weight of the background data from Excel into Word.So now the question is, can I paste some or all of the graphs as pictures? Would it seem crude if I do that? Of course, I would be submitting the Excel file so the marker would know I have made them myself.
Awaiting your advice.
Thanks!
October 20, 2016 at 11:24 pm #345285Yes post the graphs as images. You say you will still be uploading the Excel file so that should be fine. Better to find these things out now and sort it rather than having a nasty shock at 10pm on 16 November!
October 21, 2016 at 12:24 am #345291Hi! Thank you so very much! Put my mind at ease. Would paste some of them as graphs. Thinking of including a note to the marker too at the end of RAP to explain this issue so he/she doesn’t think I have been doing inconsistent or shoddy work.
Yes, I have the graphs in the Excel file named Annexures. Or should it be named Appendices?
November 2, 2016 at 8:22 pm #347137Sorry I am useless on admin matters so no idea whether you can do a part upload or not. However what I tend to do if I don’t have a USB is send myself an email and attach copies of the files so maybe you can do this and end up with all files on one PC?
Otherwise you will have to contact the OBU ACCA Office and they’ll be able to tell you.
November 3, 2016 at 1:15 am #347153I have successfully submitted my RAP, but the submission process bothers me still.
There is nothing specific in the infopack about how many files in what structures must be submitted, there are only hints.
Besides 1 ppt with the presentation , 1 excel with the calculations, 1 pdf with annual report extracts, 1 doc with the references I had an other doc with the RAP but after the conclusion part I also have a references and an appendices chapters as every academic paper must have. Is that a problem? I was very surprised that the submission asked for a separated word file for references. Why is it so? Does it mean that I should have deleted the references from the RAP?
Thanks
November 3, 2016 at 10:34 am #347195I presume (unless resubmitting and it had passed previously) there was an SLS file too?
But back to your main question. Normally you are quite right – the ref list belongs in the report. HOWEVER there are 2 reasons I have been given as to as why OBU prefer it to be loaded as a separate file:
1. it messes up the MS Word word count
2. It means with online marking when checking the references the marker will have to keep scrolling up and down (whereas separate files allow a reader to click straight from window to window and not lose their place in the original document)Both of these issues will now involve the marker in more time – so not a good idea! The appendices should always be uploaded as a separate file too (for the same reasons)
November 4, 2016 at 12:57 am #347308I have the reference list and the appendices in both places, in separate files and in the RAP file. Is this going to be an issue? Shall I contact OBU ask for re-submission (re attachment) since I think it is possible before the 16th?
Wouldn’t it be nice if OBU mention clearly what they expect from the students?
November 4, 2016 at 1:13 am #347310Its not a biggy, if you have added them both in main RAP and separate file. Many people do many don’t !!
They have explicity stated in infopack that they want separate file in word, so can’t argue of being more explicit.
Nevertheless, it shouldn’t do any harm by adding it in the main file too.
Marker won’t fail you because you added appendices and references in main RAP too. ROFL, that would really be a pissed marker for.

EhsanNovember 4, 2016 at 1:34 am #347311thanks
November 4, 2016 at 10:50 am #347352The ACCA Office I suspect is hugely busy right now during the Submission period and would only want to cancel a student’s submission if there was a serious error. As @Ehsan has said: Its not a biggy.
Yeah it won’t be a Brownie point having everything together but not a hanging offence or serious issue either – so chill baby, chill! 😀
November 6, 2016 at 8:38 pm #347757Hi Trephena,
Do I have to attach pdf copies for financial statements of both main and the competitor company? Because if i do that i will exceed 8 pages.
November 6, 2016 at 8:59 pm #347759Financial Statements of companies are excluded, everything else is counted.
