    Dear tutor,

I’m a student of a chartered accountancy body and I’ve just started ACCA by claiming exemptions so I have FR, AA & FM to pass in the Applied Skills level. I believe I have sufficient knowledge for FR and AA thanks to my prior studies as the knowledge required for them is the same as the Professional Level of ACCA examinations and also going through the OT lectures and notes I’m not finding it difficult so I’m here seeking advice as to whether I should also start preparing for FM once I’ve gone through the lectures and notes and started practicing FR and AA questions

I do have knowledge about the subject (FM), though not as good the other two so I’d like to start somewhat anew. My concern is I’m not quite familiar with the ACCA examination approach though I have skimmed through that section on their website and I will go through it again once I start practicing to enhance my understanding.

What would your recommendation be? Is it doable?

    Welcome to my forum!

Regardless of where a student starts with the ACCA qualification, I recommend this article https://opentuition.com/acca/plan-your-acca-exam-journey – sitting three exams rather than two in December (if that is what you are asking) may not get you to qualification any sooner, even if you were to pass them all.

See here a student’s experience of sitting AA (as it happens, with FM also) – she found it tough even though she is a serial prizewinner.

And see here another student’s experience https://opentuition.com/topic/my-acca-journey-12-exams-in-1-5-years – at no time sitting more than two exams in a session.

You will find advice on study planning here https://www.accaglobal.com/lk/en/student/exam-support-resources/fundamentals-exams-study-resources/f8/compass-planning.html – if you log in using the link at the bottom of the page you will get to https://compass.accaglobal.com
Here you can indicate all your exemptions select December as when you want to sit two or three exams and then see what your study plan is going to look like – if you decide to book for three, I suggest you only do so if you are prepared to decide nearer the time to not present for one of them so you can focus on just two – you don’t want to risk marginally failing three exams.
