Hi I need to score a high mark for the law exam, preferably above 90. Should I use the study text along with the notes, lectures and revision kit or are the lectures, notes and revision kit sufficient for scoring a high mark?

    Hi Ilham,

Most tutors will recommend that you primarily study from the course notes, lectures and revision kit. If you prepare for the exam in a sensible strategic manner for example revise a chapter then do questions on that chapter, you will find that you are better placed to do well in the exam.

Re the study text, technically everything in the study text is examinable but most students find it hard to digest and it can often be overload and overwhelming. As a tutor having taught ACCA law for over 14 years I have never advised students read the study text back to back. However, I would say that if you are aiming for above 90% then you may want to occasionally dip into some chapters, but only after having gone through the lectures, notes and revision kit.

More sensible would be to primarily use the lectures, notes and use the revision kit to fill in the blanks. If you can master the questions/revision kit then that is more likely to enhance your marks then reading the study text from front to back which can often be counter productive.

Ultimately, its question practice, question practice and more question practice that will prepare you for the exam and help you score higher marks.

    I hope that helps.

    Kind regards,

    Vijay

Hi. You mentioned question practice so should I invest in exam question kits from both Kaplan and BPP or will only Kaplan be sufficient? Also, you mentioned occasionally dipping into chapters in the study text. Could you please elaborate on that? As in which chapters you are talking about.

    Hi Ilham,

Most students buy 1 revision kit. The BPP revision Kit would be a wise purchase and prepare you adequately.

The topics you need to dip into are those areas where the OT notes go through topics briefly for example the Agency, Company and Insolvency law chapters.

    I hope that helps.

    Kind regards,

    Vijay

Hi. You said that you have taught F4 for over 14 years. Surely, some of your students must’ve scored above 90. If so, did they reference the study text? Sorry for going on about this, I’m just juggling two exams at the moment and I’m trying to find the most efficient way to do both.

    Hi Ilham,

Yes some of my students have passed with over 90% but this is extremely rare.

Those who passed with high marks surely did use the study text. But be wary that over use of the study text can often be counterproductive. You really need to exercise your discretion. Certainly if you really want to score over 90% then yes use the study text but most importantly do as many questions as you possibly can!!

    Good luck 🙂

Yes, I will be solving 2 exam kits(Kaplan & BPP) twice each and I will go over the topics in the study text you mentioned. I hope that will be enough.

I am planning to study Open tuition Study material provides (Not the entire study text as Kaplan/BPP but important parts with summary notes) along with exam kit.
My target is to pass the exam.
With this plan, will I be able to do this in mar?
and without referring the kaplan/BPP study text will I be able to pass?
Because I have no time now for all

    Please reply as soon possible.
Thank you so much in advance

Yes, you don’t need the study textbooks. Just print the opentuition notes and watch the lectures and then attempt exam kit. You’ll easily pass.

    Hi All,

Just to confirm, I would recommend that at the very least you listen to all of our recorded lectures and cross reference with the notes. It is absolutely fundamental that you work through the questions that are found in the P&R kit. If you do this diligently and work consistently throughout the week, you should be in a solid position to pass the exam.

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. Wish you well with your studies. Do let me know if you have any other questions that arise.

    Kind regards,

    Vijay
