Hi tutor, I will be taking F9 in September this year. My friend has given me a study text from BPP but that’s valid till August 2016. I’ve read the new changes to syllabus on ACCA website but I’m not sure if those changes are huge ones.

Would you recommend I use this one or get a new one for the exam in September?

There is no need to get a new Study Text – the changes are very minor.

However, if you are watching our free lectures (together with the free lecture notes) then you do not actually need to use the Study Text. Our lectures are a complete course for Paper F9 and cover everything needed to be able to pass the exam well.

What is much more important is that you have a Revision Kit, because they contain lots of exam standard questions to practice on and practice is vital.
For this it will be best to have the new edition because the format of the exam will be different in September and the latest edition of the Revision Kit has practice questions in the new format.

Okay, I’ll make sure I get the latest revision kit and watch the free lectures here. Thank you 🙂

Hi tutor again, today was my F5 paper and I made a HUGE mistake- answering the MCQ questions in pencil!! It took me 3 hours after the exam to realize this. I don’t know what got over me, probably because I haven’t taken an exam in a long while now and I blanked out! I knew how to do the questions but I ran out of time and simply scribbled the workings everywhere. Thought I was prepared to get a good passing mark but I doubt i would even pass especially with the loss of 40 MARKS from section A.

(I’m sorry you have to read all this) and I can’t express how thankful I am for your help in the past few months. Thank you for taking the time to answer all my doubts and questions in such detail every single time. And your lectures are truly helpful and well structured. Thank you again!

Anyway, I’m planning to retake f5 along with f9 this September, by self studying again. Would you recommend this? Is F9 manageable to pass in just a little over 2 months time, along with f5?

Don’t worry too much about the MCQ’s – I am sure that the ACCA will accept them.

Thank you for your comments 🙂

With regard to F9, it is manageable provided, obviously, that you prepared to put in enough time studying.

I can only hope so.. Thank you 🙂 I have just started on F9, it is a fairly interesting subject but definitely looks intimidating.

I do not understand one of the disadvantages with Discounted cash flow methods, which is:

The basic decision rule is to accept all projects with a positive NPV, will not apply when the capital available for investment is rationed (fixed?).

    Why is that so?

The later lectures on capital rationing do explain why 🙂
