Hi Everyone
So to update on my previous post, after discussions with work, I have made the move from CIMA to ACCA.
I have booked onto two course, F4 – Kaplan Online – Sep 18 & F6 – First Intuition Classroom Course – Oct 18. I have received all the study materials and wanted to make a head start on studying before the lessons but this is where I have got a bit stuck.
I have never studied two subjects side by side so wasn’t sure how to create my study schedule to reflect this, does anyone have any ideas? I am planning on taking both papers in Dec 18.
If anyone has any suggestions or even a study template they used themselves, it would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.
August 13, 2018 at 7:13 pm #467720Well, I just recently got done with F4 and Thank God passed. And I’m going to give F6 in September ’18.
I had given the Eng variant for F4 and
am giving the UK variant for F6.According to the study approach I myself took for both of them, I will recommend you to go Section Wise of the Syllabus for both the subjects(this must be given in the study text provided to u, if not it is there on the ACCA website)…
Understand the concept and simultaneously do the questions of those topics before starting off the next section/topic… This will help u retain and understand the matter well. As you are practising see your mistakes properly. Analysing where you went wrong and why….Keep going like this and make sure you do TONS OF PRACTICE… THE MORE.. THE BETTER… AND THE BETTER CHANCES OF PASSING.
Below im attaching a link to response i gave to a similar post with the details of my study approach.
https://opentuition.com/topic/self-study-32/
!! Please also note !! that, you have more time ( 3 and a half months (from August uptil November)) in your hands as compared to this post so you could lengthen the time period you give to each Section Area of the Syllabus.
And also things will vary for you according to the classes you have booked since the above post is a self study approach.
Ideally, i would want myself to complete the study phase by October and Keep the entire November for revision, extra and repeat practice…
On the contrary, I do not know how the course is structured for the classes you have booked so u will need to make adjustments accordingly. However, it could possibly help you plan out your studies and provide guidelines on the approach.
Moreover below are links that will surely help you… A question that I had asked the F6 and F4 tutors. Absolutely Great Advice by them!

I hope this helps.
August 13, 2018 at 7:19 pm #467722Just to keep in mind, F6 has a tons of lot of tax rules which you must remember but don’t get carried away by merely studying them, reading the textbook or the notes…Do as much Practice Questions as you can! This will help you remember and apply these rules
For F4 also there is a lot of matter to retain but again constant practice is the key to success. So do make sure u have the exam kit of an ACCA Approved Provider.
Finally, someone recently advised me that F6 exam could be lengthy… The Section C of the exam paper consumes time so make sure you practice your questions on spreadsheet and word processing…

Hi Both
Many thanks for responses, in terms of hours per day then, what would you say is a decent amount of time to spend on this per day? I work from 8am-6pm so can start working in an evening from 7pm and could get up around 5-6am in the morning?
Many thanks in advance
Matt
August 15, 2018 at 6:40 am #467910And, as I told Jetavi in the reply to his post and in the link that he has given to you, when you hit a problem, post on the Ask ACCA Tutor LW forum and I shall get back to you
OK?
August 15, 2018 at 11:56 am #467961In perspective of hours…
The best way you can estimate the time you should give to each subject would be to see the “Self Study Guide” for both the papers provided in the ACCA website. There you can see the estimated time period to give to the particular paper.Look, honestly it also depends on your capacity, how much you can give after coming from work. Is your mind in a state to study?
In my opinion I would say about 3 hrs ( one hour before going to work and 2 hrs after work) during working days and somewhat about 5 to 6hrs in the weekends. If you think you can give more, then go ahead! It is important that whatever time you give to your studies, make the best the of it! Stay focused and have complete attentiveness.
An advice I had given to someone, will give you the same, if you get free time during work, ( and if possible!) grab the notes to that subject and have a quick read through… then after you come home, practice questions on the same topic.
Opentuition is a great site! The tutors are AMAZING here. Believe me, that advise given by Mr MikeLittle helped me secure my pass in F4!
