Hello everyone and Congrats to Opentuition for the great job!
I ‘ll start studying F3 for the second time after 3 years and i ‘d like to read your opinions about how to study more effectively.
So, should i study Kaplan textbook (2013) first and then Opentuition coursenotes along with lectures or OT coursenotes & lectures are enough for understanding the concepts and passing the exam??? Or anyone has any other suggestions???
Thank you in advance.
October 9, 2017 at 7:01 pm #410071First, i’m not sure about Kaplan text of 2013. So much has changed since then. So, i would suggest a newer version if you think thats what you should use.
Alternatively, Opentuition lectures along with lecture notes are more than enough to pass F3.Secondly, If you’re a full time student, then 3-4 hours a day is what you should put in to do it in a better way. If you still have basic concepts somewhere in your mind, then you should be able to cover the syllabus in a lesser time than many others. If not, then 3-4 hours are still there, so don’t worry for that either.

Do post your queries on this forum as well as on the Ask the Tutor Forum.November 22, 2017 at 6:23 pm #417468I just passed after a gap and used a BPP textbook from 2014 – I don’t think the syllabus has changed much if at all. I used online resources too but practice questions are key.

November 23, 2017 at 11:36 pm #417708My book was actually published September 2013 for exams to August 2015. I also studied from an AAT Level 4 2013-14 textbook and the syllabus is almost identical, I’d probably have passed even with just the AAT book. I can’t imagine there was much changed in the subject matter as it’s core basic accounting, obviously different for areas like tax which do change regularly. Two text books published in 2013 were more than sufficient to pass. It’s no necessarily required to purchase new books. It would become clear if they weren’t enough by taking a few practice tests. I will be studying for F1 and F2 with books also published in 2013 alongside current BPP iPass access.
