Hi, I thought I would said up a discussion page for the Cima P1 exam . For students who were successful in passing this challenging exam, can share your experience with us – what study material did you use, did you take advantage of the Open Tuition free study resources and did you also try the Pearson Vue mock test? Also how was your exam technique in the exam.
I plan to take the Cima P1 exam in early October 16.
Regards

August 30, 2016 at 9:15 pm #336396Hi Will,
Failed it by 4 marks. gutted. It was very time pressured and I didn’t have time to check some of my answers.
I have my resit booked for next friday and purchased some additional resources so hopefully the will help
August 30, 2016 at 10:12 pm #336407Very sad but I hope you will make it next week on your resit. Cima exams have become difficult to pass with the OT’s. Sometimes not because you can’t make it but the time factor. You couldn’t even get the time to read the question well to understand not alone rechecking your work. When I took my F1 exam, I failed the first time not because the questions were above me just that I couldn’t got enough time to read and understand it well enough so on my resit I tried to test myself under exam condition which worked eventually that was two months ago. I have my P1 in three weeks and I am trying to use the same strategy to see if it works this time too especially reading from those who have already sat the exam. Time management is the bottleneck here. Please you can share your P1 experience if you have taken your exam already.
Good luck amylou1409 let’s hear how it goes on your resit.September 17, 2016 at 6:22 pm #340802I passed first time – just!!!
With 2 mins to go I answered the last 5 questions – without reading them. Time management was certainly a factor in this paper.
September 18, 2016 at 11:13 am #340837@gordon24 – Well done!
Can you remember any of the main topics that came up ? Still have about one months study left then i will be hitting the revision phase. A lot of students seem to say you either get a lot of calculations, or more theory questions than calculations.
September 19, 2016 at 10:39 am #340898I failed this exam first time 3 weeks ago with a scaled score of 98 needing 100 to pass!!! I have my resit in 3 hours time!! I totally agree that it is the time that is the issue as I can do the questions but do need time to think about them. I don’t know why CIMA has made the OTE’s so timed pressured as it wouldn’t be the case in real life.
Fingers crossed for second time lucky!!
December 30, 2016 at 7:29 am #364655I’ve passed it yesterday, first try.
I studied intensely over 7 weeks. Used BPP text book and BPP, Kaplan, Acorn, CIMAAptitude exam kits. On top of that I watched the Opentuition videos a couple of times and used the forum here. (Big Thanks to Opentuition).
I realise that everyone’s exam is different, depending on what the computer comes up with, but based on my experience my advise is to do the calculations but also have a very sound understanding of the theory and the meaning behind the calculated figures.
January 24, 2017 at 12:20 pm #369281Hi ,
I just want to find out how long should I study to get ready for this exam, given all necessary material?
October 20, 2017 at 1:02 pm #412606Hi I am using kaplan practice test, bpp mock exam and opentuition materials.
I find these are quite easy but Asranti mock exam was completely different and looks complicated.
What did the real exam look like.
