Hi,
Can I use SWOT analysis to assess the suitability of the acqusition of ABC company? Also , am a lil confused, would I be doing it from the point of view of ABC company or its acquirer?
Thank you
You can always use SWOT for all appraisals. Look at what’s achieved by the takeover.
It should be done for the acquiring company because the company acquired had little say in the matter.
So, for the acquiring company (not dealing with any particular question) the following mght apply:
Strengths: perhaps expertise will be very high after the takeover
Weaknesses: problems integrating
Opportunities: ability to better service the takeover target’s customers.
Threats: greater government or regulatory interest in a large suppliers.
