If we are asked to calculate the after tax cost of debt, will we lose marks if we simply use the IRR spreadsheet function, rather than taking 2 guesses etc..?? it’s much quicker to use the function but don’t want to lose marks! the examiners reports do suggest that we use functions where possible, but would like reassurance on the matter.
    Thanks
    Michelle

No, you will not lose marks (assuming that you use the formula on the correct figures 🙂 )
