spreadsheet is actually a format of excel but i want to confirm that spreadsheet is a softwear or NOT? or just a tool

Spreadsheet is not a form of excel – it is the other way round. Excel is just one example of a spreadsheet 🙂
Spreadsheets are software. They are also a tool that can be used to help solve problems.
