It takes time depending how much messed up your analysis is. It takes from one to three months for OBU to reply after which they will either declare you pass, fail or will forward your case to the academic conduct committee. If you are unable to satisfy them, worst case scenario is that you will be permanently disqualified from OBU along with an advise to ACCA to initiate disciplinary proceedings against you.

But again thats the worst case scenario, 99.9% will either be declared pass or fail within 3-6 months of the result. make sure you have all of your workings ready incase they call for them.

    Good Luck

hmmmm …. that means im screwed! … in a country like kenya, Safaricom and Airtel are like the only companies in the same field that one can get their hands on in terms of comparative companies. 26 submissions means, they must have got a minimum of 26 projects on these companies!

    This sucks!

@ Kumar, not necessarily, provided you were not involved in the plagiarsm activity, the cement industry is pretty popular in Pakistan and there are several submissions on the same company each year.

well it seems like issues take long to be resolved. The students have to bear with such a hellish wait to know their fate.it must equally be hard for the markers looking at all those scripts from arund the world.Do they even check if the quoted companies exist???Highly unikely.just my thoughts.Choice of company just doesn”t matter would be my conclusion.Submittimg in may and keeping fingers crossed

That was the email i received

    Dear student,

We regret the need to hold your BSc result for investigation. This process has been completed in your case, but has taken longer than expected due to the very large number of cases that the Academic Conduct Officers have had to handle.

We have now been advised that your project has been fully and carefully reviewed and that the Academic Conduct Officer has agreed that your project should be passed. Your e-copy letters are now visible on-line.

The formal paperwork, including your official transcript will be sent by Royal Mail shortly

    Hello,

Is there anybody who has submitted the RAP in period 27 and currently their project is deferred to the ACO?

Did anybody receive an e-mail from OBU to proof on their project?

    Please help

I have received an email. They have mentioned that my RAP had similarities to other RAPs. This is insane considering my RAP was my writing all through. Yes a few articles can match someone else’s because they are all over the net! Also they want me to show them a draft as in how i went about the whole project which i am pretty sure i can do.Also they want me to show them the articles that i have used in the rap. I don’t get it what the harvard referencing i did ,was all about! Was it no good?! If there’s any help anyone can do, any other detail i might mention, ill highly appreciate.

@ USHNA, if and only if its your own work, there is no need to be stressed out, just send them the working you made in order to reach your analysis i.e. MS excel / spreadsheet data sheets. However i am not sure why they would call for articles used as all needed details should be available in the reference list. I have not heard of a precedent.

I think you should tell OBU the same.

    Good luck!!!

Forensic science is the scientific method of gathering and examining information about the past.Art forensics concerns the art authentication cases to help research the work’s authenticity. Art authentication methods are used to detect and identify forgery, faking and copying of art works, e.g. paintings. (Wikipedia)

    “Dear student,
You will have been advised by your Academic Conduct Officer investigating your work that your project from Period 27 will be referred to the University Misconduct Committee.
The process of doing so is complex and requires us to complete extra checking to ensure that all actions taken so far are correct and within University procedures.
Your case will be hear by a UMC meeting early in 2015, and you will have the right to attend in person, by telephone or by Skype.
We will contact you in the next few weeks to invite you to attend.”

I need serious help from you guys. Please help me in preparing for the hearing. Give your suggestion how to participate in the hearing. I am really worried about the matter could not be able to sleep from may nights!
I want to sort out the matter i do not want to loose my acca status and bsc eligibility status 🙁

Waiting for reply from you guys!!!

@Adeel – the University Misconduct Committee is the next stage after the ACO. What this means is that the ACO head officer is satisfied that there were irregularities in a submission and/or there is evidence of a student attempting to gain the degree by deceit I.e. the student has a case to answer.

The hearing mentioned will be formal tribunal style proceedings like a court I believe. Senior experienced academics and lawyers listen to the evidence and like a jury will come to a decision purely based on the evidence. I have never had personal experience of the OBU UMC but once appeared as an expert witness at a similar hearing when I was an exam marker for a professional body and I and other markers had uncovered evidence of collusion at an exam centre. I was required to produce a witness statement with technical legal assistance by the body’s lawyers and was cross-examined at the hearing. The students on this occasion declined to attend but were represented by a lawyer. I was never informed of the outcome as I was just a witness.

You may need legal help as you will need to produce your evidence and a witness statement as well as you can to balance the evidence the ACO will be putting forward. You should I believe under normal legal rules have access to the evidence they will be relying on but this is normally exchanged simultaneously with yours a week or two before the actual hearing.

Thanks for your reply… What should i do now.
    a) do not attend the hearing
b)attend the hearing via skype as i cannot fly to uk and defend my case personally.

I just want this mater to be sort out.
