    Hi.

    Quick question: Section C Question 31 part a (i)

To inflate the revenue I used the method I have seen in all resources thus far e.g. Sales volume x selling price x 1.03 (example).

In the answers for the specimen exam the examiner has inflated the selling price (rounded) and then multiplied by volume.

All my workings were correct but my answers all vary due to the examiners approach using more rounding. Arguably I got the more accurate NPV. But that is besides the point. Would I get marked down? Should I be inflating the sales price in isolation, rounding it and then multiplying the volume? Very frustrating to see this a few days out.

Thanks in advance for anyone’s time and views on this.

You will not get marked down.

In Section C the markings are for the workings rather that for the final answer, and if you did everything else correctly then you would get full marks.

(But do make sure that your workings are clear for the marker in the exam. Even if you make a mistake you will still get marks if you were trying to do it the right way, but only – obviously – if the marker can follow your workings 🙂 )

By the way, because this is the Ask the Tutor Forum, the ‘anyone’ will always be me for Paper F9 🙂

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply John.

I was hoping that would be the case, I have been practicing laying out my workings clearly. As I have a habit to get ahead of myself.

It was just very confusing when marking my work against the model answers. Especially where the model answer had rounded down a 0.5…figure!

    Thank you once again.
