FKT Company is considering the introduction of a code of ethics following media criticism of its selling practices.
Which of the following is most important when deciding on the content of the proposed code of ethics?
A The minimum acceptable standards of behaviour and conduct of employees (KEY)
B The legal requirements affecting the sales of core products and services
C The main issues of concern to customers who have made complaints
D The generally accepted standards by other companies operating in the same sector
Answer is A. This entire question went above my mind. Please help.
A code of ethics to to pro ide guidance and rules for staff about ethical issues. That’s why A is right.
B This is the law, not ethics. Ethical coded are usually stricter than legal requirements.
C Not really ethics….customers might be complaining about value for money etc.
D This can be a starting point for a code of ethics, but each company must decide on its own.
