Hi mike
Thanks for ur reply but I still don’t understand as if I am an nci, I am not even part of the group so I don’t care about the purp so I should be getting the 20% of the subsidiary’s share without any adjustment !May 3, 2017 at 7:04 am #384661You’re not getting anything until I say so! 🙂
Your interest in the consolidated figures is as per the ‘normal’ calculations
If you wish to know how much your investment in the subsidiary is worth … look in the subsidiary’s financial statements
If you wish to know by how much you are helping to finance the group activities … look in the parent entity’s consolidated financial statements
That value for the nci in the group financial statements is not any indication of how much you could receive on, say, a liquidation or on, say, a full 100% dividend distribution
It’s simply a measure of the extent to which the group’s activities are being financed by the nci
Your real concern should be looking directly at the subsidiary financial statements!
OK?
