October 30, 2014 at 7:37 am #206697I believe that my tips for December 2014 include “Integrated reporting (new to syllabus)
IAS 41 Agriculture (new to syllabus)”Examiner’s answer brief? Yours is longer? and opinion, risk and materiality correct? Why would you not score? The problem there is that you may be taking too much time fully to explain your points which is ok, so long as you are not stealing time from other areas of the question, or from other questions
“Sir as per group audit most of the time i try to memorize the procedure used for component auditor but every time I forget them?can i write them in my own words?” Of course you can use your own words!
“Can i attempt due diligence question if i learn the specific procedures that are given in kaplan book?” Again, of course! But why try to punish yourself by learning the specific wording? Your own words are sufficient. The ACCA is not looking for people who are capable of learning parrot-style
Ethical is honest, fair, accountable, trust-worthy …..(and lots of others)
Professional is compliance with the rules and guidance laid down by the profession
Due diligence in the notes? No, it’s not there. I talk about it in lectures but I don’t make a big issue out of it. Maybe I should
October 30, 2014 at 11:43 am #206798Thanks mike honestly i wrote “brief answer” by mistake i meant that acca examiner answers are very lengthy and many point have been identified that a normal student may not have even thought of writing. So how much should we write in an answer because everytime i see examiner answer it just makes me a bit worried! so i prefer the marking key given at the end of the exam.
October 31, 2014 at 7:57 am #206927Ah! That makes a difference!
How many points should you write? It’s more a question of “How many points can you write IN THE CORRECT TIME ALLOCATION”
You’ll certainly not get as many as the examiner – for a number of reasons.
– the examiner had in mind the sort of things they were expecting when they wrote the question
– the examiner had no time-pressure
– the examiner had all the books, papers, documents, reference sources, internet available and you had none
Don’t panic – you’re not comparing like with like
Allocate your time, plan your answer, re-read the question to make sure that your plan addresses the question and particularly the verbs in the question, then write it out in proper style. BUT DON”T OVERRUN YOUR TIME ALLOCATION
October 31, 2014 at 3:12 pm #207002The official response says “the markers attempt the exam under exam conditions”
When I was a marker (many years ago) the exam that I was involved in as a marker was attempted by JUST ONE volunteer from the marking team. Not all, not even some. Just one.
Their attempt was under exam conditions merely to see that the exam was “doable”
There’s no record of what score they would have attained. Nor is there any record of whether they would even have passed. Hopefully they would have attained a pass mark as many of them were tutors in that subject.
Elia, until you know something different, I would appreciate your circumspection and restrict your comments to the general forum rather than bringing doubt into the credibility of my posts that I KNOW are based on fact rather than yours that are (I suggest) a misinterpretation of the “official reply”
Thank you
