    Hi
In F8,certain topics tend to come over and over again.I was wondering if P7 was similar in any way to F8 as in with similar topics coming year to year. Also,do we need to know substantive procedures and tests of control in detail like in F8?

This is a professional level paper.

You need to know how to resolve auditing issues but, to be able to do that, you need to be aware of relevant accounting treatment

You need to be aware of how to audit with both substantive and control tests because one question that frequently appears in P7 is “What evidence would you expect to find?” or “What further procedures would you expect to be carried out?” so F8 knowledge is still required

Yes, there is repetition … but not as obvious / helpful as in F8

For example, question 1 is always a 35 marker and mainly a response to a partner’s email

There’s often a question involving audit reports, another involving (as above) “What evidence …”, another involving groups

But the repetition is not as predictably close as in F8

    OK?

Samin the other thing I would also add is that the audit report has recently changed, so i would read the article on the new report and make detailed notes.

It has been partially tested in September, but who is to say it can’t be tested from a different angle next time round. After all it has recently changed, giving the examiner opportunity to test multiple times using different approach to the question each time. This is just my thought.

fbawany – if Samin had asked for detailed tips and question spotting, I would have given it to him / her

Links to the articles have been posted already many times on the P7 Ask ACCA Tutor forum and I (rightly or wrongly) assume that students will read previous threads

Maybe you think it would be a good idea to have a stock response that will cover all eventualities that students may enquire about?

That is not going to happen

So, may I respectfully ask you to confine your contributions to the P7 Ask ACCA Tutor forum to asking your own questions

The place for your own contributions is on the general forum
