Hi,
Wish to check for ratio such as price to earnings ratio can we just use PE and earnings per share instead replace with EPS, ROCE, etc? Thank you.
Besides, how could we detect the question actually looking for ratio analysis? Any clue that can refer?

Yes – by all means use abbreviations.
There is no specific way of detecting – you can only get used to what the examiner required by practicing every question in your Revision Kit and getting used to the style of the questions.
