how this works when we pay dividend (not in the form of cash) please explain this

Share repurchase is not examinable.
I guess what you really mean is a scrip dividend (where the dividend is given in shares instead of in cash).
Can I suggest you read paragraph 4.3 of Chapter 11 of our free Course Notes.
