Cathy what you think is it easy then paper based. Was the time manageable in cbe because there is alot of working. Is it hard on cbe as compare to paper based?

    Hi Blaze,

Unfortunately I have never taken the paper based version so it is hard for me to compare.

However I can say that with the computer based exam there seem to be more OT type questions in Section A than MTQ’s. So the questions and difficulty level are exactly the same as the paper based version but you may need to put the answer in the box or tick options rather than choosing A, B, C or D.

There is also NO additional reading time of 15mins at the start of the exam, but you do get up to 10mins to read the instructions on how to use the software before you are allowed to see the questions.

The advantage is I did like having the simplified version of the excel and word spread-sheets as I am a quicker typist than a writer, but you do need to do a bit of planning first I find.

I found the September sitting quite hard and the time really tight as they seem to be for most of the exams so I think I maybe retaking, but I’ll wait and see!

The practise and revision kits from BPP now do give you questions on both the computer based version and paper based version to give you an idea of the difference and there is a good link to the ACCA website F5 specimen exam and guidance for CBE F5. (see below – Just copy this into your browser)

Hope that helps and good luck.

Thanks cathy but tbh i think i stick with the paper based because i slow typist so i dont think attenting especially the last 2 long would be easy on cbe . thanks again for explaining.

    Goodluck for ur result

Do you get the exam results quicker on the CBE version?

    Hello,

No, with F5-F9 CBE’s you get the results at the same time as the paper based versions as parts of the exam are manually marked by the examiners.

    Kind regards,
    Cathy

    Hi Cathy,

I was wondering if you could let me know what type of questions you got on section A? I’m finding the time allowed really harsh as well, and find that its taking me much longer than it should to complete 15 questions! was it a nice mix of the select a statement, workings and whats true/false?

I’m hoping its not going to be 15 workings type questions or i could be in trouble!

    Sitting exam on 7th December…

Hope you got the result you wanted! 🙂

    Hi James,

Hopefully you will be glad to hear that from what I can remember there were not 15 workings type questions. It was a mixture of calculations and naritive type questions in the form of OT type questions, what’s true/false, select a statement and some where you had to calculate the answer into a box as well, so it was a good mixture.

For me I found Section A the hardest and knowing this before I went into the exam I decided to tackle Section C first to try and maximise marks, so if I was running out of time I could make a few guesses in Section A which I did last.

Thankfully my stratigy paid off and just passed, so I will now be sitting F6 on the 8th.

Hope that helps and all the very best of luck to you next week.

    Kind regards,
    Cathy
