What are peoples thoughts on Q1 in September?

it was a Balance Sheet in June’17, I believe Cash Flow hasn’t appeared since last June’16

Well I strongly advise you don’t take risks and learn everything you need to know. It’s not just one exam you’re learning for it’s your future career and knowledge that will be valuable to your employers.

However I will take a stab at predicting what will come up in September. I won’t be leaving anything to chance myself and practising all Q1s in my revision kit.

    1. SOCI with Forex
    2. SOFP with complex groups
    3. Cash flow statement
    4. SOCI with disposal

That’s my thoughts of what’s most likely to come up in order of most likeliness.

Feel free to take risks if you like but that means if the one you took a gamble on does come up you have totally and utterly wasted your time studying for this sitting. That’s much worst than if you practiced one and it didn’t come up.

Well I own a Kaplan revision kit (latest one for Sept 17 to June 18 exams) and they have their own self made question on a SOCI with FX sub. It’s a really good question as it tested me out on the new lease standard also. Don’t know about other revision kits.

It’s just one of the many possible questions. TBH I probably shouldn’t have it ranking so high on my list of what’s likely to come up, but it’s just it’s been very rarely, if even ever, examined before. With only four P2 sittings left until a new subject, surely he’ll examine PNL with FX sooner or later. Could easily be wrong though this examiner’s mind is unreadable and he’s done a good job at being unpredictable hence why you don’t take risks and question spot.

I would love it to come up but my ultimate bet would probably be spent on another SOFP and if I had to be more specific than that I’d say one with complex groups and/or changes in ownership. Not taking chances though going through all those Q1s in Kaplan’s beautiful book.

May I know what is the title of that question? Thanks

Not 100% sure if it is there own made up question, but it seems to be as there is no reference to any past exams, but the question is called Parsley.

It will probably be in older version of their revision kit, too, if that’s what you own, I don’t know. But beware, the leasing standard has been updated so any lease questions or part questions in old kits are no longer relevant.
