Hello John Hope you are doing very well.
What do u think about the new format of exams. Will it be harder?
I personally feel it has been made more hard with 60 percent of exam on objectives. That means no step marks.
Will the last two written questions would be from any specific topic? that examiner has mentioned about?
Please let me what you think about the difficulty level now and how to overcome this as it seems like it will be hard to pass now with no marks being awarded on workings for mcqs.
I have revision kit for last june session will that be enough or i need to buy current edition? and same question goes for f5 as well i am asking for both here only as its a general question and i dont want to repeat the same thing on that forum.
July 25, 2016 at 12:52 am #328733I mean the kits which were valid for this june exams. It has the mcqs but not the new format exams. Will new kit have differnt question or very minor changes? i dont want to waste my money π
July 25, 2016 at 7:14 am #328760I do not think the new format will be harder. On the one had you are correct in that you either get 2 marks or zero on the MCQ’s, with nothing in between. On the other hand, however, you should as always guess the answers to questions you are not sure about (which will almost certainly get some marks) which is not possible with long-form questions.
The long-form questions can be on any of the topics.
You do not need to buy new Revision Kits – there are no major syllabus changes for either of the papers.
July 25, 2016 at 7:08 pm #329086The long form questions would be most probably from cost of capital and investment appraisal?
Sir there are some new type of mcqs now the scenario based questions. In my revision kit i dont have those scenario based questions. Does new kits contain those type of questions? and will it be good if i get the current edition just for that?
July 26, 2016 at 6:33 am #329123The new kits will contain scenario Section B questions. However the technique for these is no different than for the current MCQ’s.
July 26, 2016 at 9:06 pm #329433Thank You for your answer Sir.
About the long form questions is it very likely to be from Investment appraisal and cost of capital? I know you cant answer this question if examiner hasnt said anything about it. But even in the speicemen paper the long from questions were on inv appraisal and cost of capital.
I think this is another aspect which is making this new format tough π As in last format we knew 2 questions will come from inv appraisal, cost of capital or working capital.
Now they can probly be from any topic right?
July 27, 2016 at 7:23 am #329812They can be from any topic, although certainly investment appraisal has to be always very likely.
However, just because of what was asked in the specimen paper certainly does not mean that it will always be the same topics in the actual exams. The specimens paper is only there to show the format and the level of difficulty. The only way to be sure of passing the exam is to be confident on all topics.
July 27, 2016 at 9:08 pm #329908Sir Any Intelligent guesses on written questions ? π
July 28, 2016 at 7:17 am #329930No – it would be pointless to guess!
The only way of passing the exam is to be confident on all topics.
