Hello Sir,
I’m giving the P7 AAA exam in the December sitting which is my last paper & am unsure whether take classes or just self-study it. Well i’ve got an exemption for F8 which i had done 2 years ago and it wasn’t well taught in the Uni so the foundation knowledge is pretty bad. Is P7 completely different from F8 or does it require a solid foundation taught from F8? and are the lectures covered in O.T for F8 AA & P7 AAA enough to give an understanding of the subject if i were to self study? My plan is to watch the lectures, get Kaplan study guide & revision kit and learn from that, it’s the same pattern i’ve followed for my other P level exams. Would like your opinion on this dilemma.Regards,

It’s good that you recognise that your foundation in AA(F8) is bad (!) Yes AAA(P7) requires a thorough understanding of all the “basics” in AA.I would recommend that you go through OT’s lectures and notes for AA as quickly as you can and use, for example, the AA CBE Specimen or one of the more recent CBE exams to test yourself (do all the OT-case Qs which are only 30% of each exam).
Rather than use a Kaplan study guide – if you don’t plan to buy a Kaplan kit – I would recommend that you use ACCA’s own “Study support guide” which you will find in the getting started section of study support resources at https://www.accaglobal.com/uk/en/student/exam-support-resources/professional-exams-study-resources/p7.html You will be able to use this alongside OT’s notes and lectures. Also look out for (coming soon) flashcards.
Then you need only invest in a Revision Question Bank/Kit and, I would recommend, a marked mock.

I am planning to do AAA in December too.
To reiterate your points I would not need to purchase a Kaplan study text just the revision kit with Open tuition lectures and notes sufficing alongside ACCA’s own study support guide.
How would you utilise the study support guide specifically, and would you recommend us to purchase anything else?
Thank you.
August 29, 2018 at 6:52 am #469944If you download the “Study support guide” it explains how to use it.
If you select AAA from the study support resources page https://www.accaglobal.com/uk/en/student/exam-support-resources.html you will find all other essential resources here including examining team guidance and technical articles.
You could purchase a text if want more detail than can be provided in the course notes and lectures – but equally you could engage in wider reading on selected topics yourself (e.g. downloading the Rulebook from ACCA’s www as a reference for all matters relating to ethics).

How many past papers would you recommend doing for this module? And would dedicating 8 hours per week for the next 3 months be enough to pass this exam?
Thank you.
August 30, 2018 at 7:01 am #470093Please look at page 5 of the Study support guide that I have recommended. This suggests a day and two evenings/half days a week over a four-month period.
September 1, 2018 at 1:31 pm #470646Hi Tutor,
Are these AAA videos suitable for AAA-UK version as well?
September 2, 2018 at 8:33 am #470768If you look at the contents of the AAA notes you will see that the last chapter is clearly marked up as for Int variant only:
31. The Audit of Performance Information in the Public Sector (International Variant only)
So apart from this the remainder is relevant to both UK and INT.I would recommend however that you do get a UK-version revision practice kit so you become familiar with small points of detail specifically relevant to UK(e.g. there could be references to Companies Act or other legislation which is assumed knowledge of LW-ENG).
