    Dear sir,
    In your notes, chapter 3 under the title segment information, does the profit for operation refer to operating profit by any chance?
    And under what circumstances would we need to use the formula given?

    Yes, and very rarely

    To be honest, the notes on segment reporting are there for the purposes of completeness – the topic is so rarely asked that I cannot remember the last time I saw it in an F7 exam
