Which of the following are examples of secondary data?
(i) A count of the number of invoices that we are issuing each week
(ii) The average wage of the population taken from government census results
(iii) The average wage paid to our employees
(iv) The sales for the month as reported on a website
what is the difference between primary and secondary data? Can anyone please give an explanation with examples…
Hi!
Primary data is original data that has been collected by a researcher by whatever means appropriate in the answer of a specific research question (Source: OBU Infopack). Under that definition, i & iii are primary sources.
Secondary data is data that has been collected by others for their own purposes, but which may be used by a researcher for his or her different purposes (Source: OBU Infopack). Under that definition, ii & iv are secondary sources.
Hope this helps.
